Daniel Forrester Nears Africa on London to Ghana Walk

British Man Marks Day 100 of London to Ghana Journey

Daniel Forrester and late CarolineDaniel Forrester, 48, has reached Day 104 of his London to Ghana walk, bringing him to the edge of a historic milestone as he prepares to step onto the African continent for the first time on foot. The British man from Romford, Essex, began his journey nearly 100 days ago, setting out from London with a deeply personal mission that has since drawn growing public attention.

On March 1, 2026, he shared an update to marked the symbolic moment while in Morroco, noting that he was in high spirits as he neared Africa although he’s still ‘lost in the woods”. The walk from London to Ghana is not simply an endurance challenge. It is the fulfilment of a promise he made to his late fiancée, Caroline, a Ghanaian national who passed away in November 2024 after battling colorectal cancer in England.

Daniel Forrester and late CarolineBefore her death, Forrester vowed to return her ashes to her ancestral home in Ghana. He is now carrying out that commitment step by step, covering thousands of miles across Europe en route to West Africa. While the physical demands of the trek are considerable, the emotional weight of carrying his fiancée’s ashes to Ghana has defined the journey.

Alongside honouring Caroline’s memory, Forrester is using the charity trek to Ghana to raise funds and awareness for St. Francis Hospice in Romford. The hospice cared for Caroline during her final months, providing end-of-life support to both her and her family. Forrester has said that each mile walked represents a contribution toward helping other families access the same compassionate care.

Daniel Forrester and late CarolineAs he transitions from the European leg of the expedition toward Africa, the terrain and climate will shift dramatically. The cold conditions he encountered in northern regions will give way to the heat and challenging landscapes of the Sahara and the West African corridor. Despite those realities, Forrester remains focused and determined.

With over 100 days of momentum behind him, the London to Ghana walk has become both a personal pilgrimage and a public act of remembrance. As he approaches the continent that holds Caroline’s roots, the final stretch of the journey carries added significance. For Forrester, the road ahead is not just measured in miles, but in the promise he continues to honour with every step.
