Solomon Akiyesi has died after reportedly passing away in his sleep, according to the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
The news was confirmed on Monday by the guild’s president, Abubakar Yakubu, who said the actor died on Sunday in Abuja.
“He slept and did not wake up,” Yakubu said, adding that the guild is still awaiting further details from the family regarding the circumstances of his death.
His body has been deposited in a mortuary in Abuja, where the incident occurred.
Akiyesi, who was from Edo State, specifically the Akoko-Edo/Ososo area, had been active in Nollywood for several years. During his career, he appeared in a range of films that contributed to his presence in the industry.
His credits include Heart of a Saint, Desperate Ladies, Pretty Liars, and Bridge of Contract, productions that introduced him to audiences across Nigeria.
News of his death has triggered reactions across social media, with many expressing shock at the sudden development. Tributes have begun to emerge from fans and industry colleagues, reflecting on his contributions to Nollywood.
