Ghanaian Lawyer Dies After Collapsing During Ghana vs Panama Match Celebration
The Ghanaian legal community has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Sara Araba Tettey, a 26-year-old private legal practitioner who reportedly collapsed during celebrations after Ghana’s World Cup victory over Panama.
Tettey, a former student of the Law Faculty at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, had recently achieved a major milestone in her legal journey after being called to the Ghana Bar earlier this year.
She was also working with O & A Legal Consult at the time of her death.
According to reports, she had gathered with friends at Standard Hostel in Bomso near KNUST to watch Ghana’s match against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Witnesses said celebrations broke out after Ghana secured victory, but the joyful atmosphere suddenly turned tragic when she reportedly collapsed.
Friends and others present quickly rushed her to the KNUST Hospital, popularly known as Tech Hospital, where medical personnel reportedly attempted to revive her.
Reports indicate that emergency efforts continued for about 45 minutes before she was pronounced dead.
The incident has left many shocked, particularly colleagues, former classmates, and members of the KNUST law community who described her as a promising young professional with a bright future ahead.
Affectionately known as Araba Tettey among friends and colleagues, she was remembered as someone admired within her circles.
Her body has since been deposited at the KNUST Medical School mortuary pending further arrangements.
Authorities and family members are yet to officially communicate further details regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
