Two Feared Dead After Microlight Aircraft Crashes in Tema Community One
Panic and shock gripped residents of Tema Community One on Monday afternoon after a Sky Arrow microlight aircraft crashed into a school compound, leaving at least two people feared dead.
The incident reportedly occurred around 3:30 p.m. on March 16, 2026, at Site 17 in the busy residential community. The aircraft is said to have crashed within a school park, causing alarm among residents, teachers and students in the area.
Eyewitnesses said the aircraft suddenly descended before crashing into the compound, triggering panic as people rushed to safety.
Initial reports suggest the victims are believed to be the pilots who were on board the aircraft at the time of the crash.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and begin rescue and recovery operations. A senior officer from the service confirmed that two bodies had been retrieved from the crash site, raising fears that both individuals on board may have died in the accident.
As a precaution, emergency responders evacuated teachers and pupils from the school premises while authorities secured the surrounding area.
The crash site has since been cordoned off to prevent interference as investigators begin examining what may have caused the aircraft to go down.
Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the identities of the victims. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
Officials say more information is expected once emergency teams complete their assessment and aviation authorities begin a full investigation into the incident.
