Choirmaster Breaks Silence After Wife Beverly Afaglo’s Death
Ghana’s entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of actress and entrepreneur Beverly Afaglo at the age of 42 after a two-year battle with cancer.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by her husband, Choirmaster, born Eugene Baah, in an emotional tribute shared on social media on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
In the post, the musician expressed deep pain over the loss of his wife, describing her as his “strength” and “happiness.”
“My heart is shattered beyond words,” he wrote while reflecting on the role Beverly played in his life and family.
According to her manager, Abu Iddris, the actress fought courageously throughout her illness while continuing to focus on her career and family responsibilities.
“She’s been battling cancer for two years. It’s been a relentless war. She really fought hard and this is where it ended,” he said in an interview with Ghana Weekend.
Iddris disclosed that the cancer reportedly started as breast cancer before spreading because of its genetic nature.
Despite her condition, Beverly continued participating in movie productions, premieres, and promotional activities while undergoing treatment.
“In fact, we shot things for her while she was undergoing treatment. The premieres, the promotions, she was undergoing treatment. She lived while doing her very best until the cancer really overtook her,” he added.
According to her manager, Beverly had travelled to the United States for treatment and was advised to remain there because of the quality of medical care available.
However, she chose to return to Ghana to spend time with her children during her final days.
“She chose to come be with her kids, knowing the situation. This is the kind of person she is,” he stated.
Management of the late actress later released an official statement through Cine-God Studios on behalf of the Afaglo family, confirming that she passed away at the International Maritime Hospital in Tema in the early hours of Sunday.
The family also announced that her one-week observance will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Green Flavour Events Centre in Community 9, Tema, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The statement appealed to the public for prayers, support, and privacy as the family prepares for her final rites.
Tributes have continued pouring in from fans, colleagues, and loved ones, many of whom have been celebrating Beverly Afaglo’s impact on Ghana’s entertainment industry and remembering her strength throughout her health battle.
