“God Is Real”: Davido Reflects on Grief, Family, and His Miraculous Twins

Davido Says Newborn Son Looks Just Like Late IfeanyiDavido: ‘It’s Scary How My Twin Son Looks Exactly Like Ifeanyi’

Award-winning Nigerian singer Davido has opened up about the emotional impact of fatherhood, loss, and the “scary” resemblance between his newborn twin son and his late child, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

In a heartfelt conversation with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, Davido shared how the birth of his twins—just a year after the tragic passing of Ifeanyi—has been both healing and deeply spiritual for him and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland.

“To come back from that and be blessed with twins just shows that God is real,” Davido said. “And the boy looks just like my late son. It’s scary. It is like literally him. We are like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back.’”

Ifeanyi, Davido’s first son with Chioma, tragically passed away on October 31, 2022, at the age of 3 after a drowning incident in a swimming pool at the singer’s Lagos residence.

The couple welcomed twins—a boy and a girl—in October 2023, in the United States. Their birth, Davido said, felt like divine reassurance after a year marked by silence, grief, and recovery.

“That type of loss made me be like, ‘I’m out’. I am just going to chill, take care of my wife and the family, and get my head right,” he added.

Davido’s remarks have struck a chord with fans worldwide, many of whom have followed his journey through tragedy and triumph. The singer’s resilience and faith continue to resonate, especially as he reclaims joy through family and music.
