Sarkodie Reveals What Keeps Him Motivated in Music

Sarkodie motivation in music has once again become a topic of conversation after the Ghanaian rap icon explained what continues to drive him after many years in the industry. Speaking during a conversation shared online by Apple Music, the award-winning rapper reflected on the energy and inspiration that keep him focused on his craft.

The discussion featured Afrobeat singer KiDi, who asked Sarkodie a direct question about what sustains his passion for music despite his long career and continued success.

“I’ve always wanted to know what gets you out of bed to keep soldiering on after all these years of doing this. I’m very curious,” KiDi said during the exchange.

“Whether people believe this or not, it’s because I see you guys doing this. Just the fact that I’m sitting here today talking to you—that’s what inspires me,” he explained.

“There was a time I wanted to take a break, but somebody put a battery in my back and said, ‘Sarkodie, when you move, the people move,’” he said.

For Sarkodie, that reminder reinforced the responsibility that comes with his position in the industry. Seeing the growth of Ghanaian music and the achievements of fellow artistes has become a reason to remain active and continue contributing to the scene.
