Malia Obama Refuses to Involve Barack and Michelle in Her Movie Projects
Michelle Obama Reveals Why Malia Avoids Bringing Family Into Her Film Work

Malia Obama is building her film career on her own terms.
The 27-year-old daughter of Barack Obama and Michelle Obama has been working in Hollywood under the name Malia Ann. She previously worked as a writer on Donald Glover’s series Swarm before directing her 2023 short film The Heart.
Michelle Obama recently opened up about Malia’s approach to filmmaking during an episode of the IMO podcast, which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson.
The former First Lady made the comments while speaking with legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

According to Michelle, Malia prefers to keep her parents away from her creative projects.
“She will never invite us to anything that she does,” Michelle said.
“She doesn’t want us around her stuff,” she added.
Spielberg had earlier revealed that Barack Obama recently visited the set of his upcoming movie Disclosure Day.
The director said it was the first film set the former president had ever visited.

Michelle also joked about Barack’s friendship with Spielberg and his love for movies.
“My husband is a bully to you when it comes to your movies,” she said jokingly.
Spielberg then revealed that Barack once threatened to watch one of his films vertically on an iPhone if he did not get an early screening.
“He said if he wasn’t among the first to see it, he was going to watch it only on an iPhone,” Spielberg said.
Michelle added that Barack knew the joke would annoy the filmmaker.
The Oscar-winning director also shared details about Barack Obama’s visit to the set of Disclosure Day.

According to Spielberg, many young cast members were shocked when the former president arrived.
“You could hear a pin drop when he walked in,” he said.
Spielberg explained that while he personally sees Barack as a close friend, younger actors mainly know him through his presidency and global influence.
Disclosure Day is scheduled for release on June 12.
The sci-fi movie stars Emily Blunt, Eve Hewson, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, Josh O’Connor, and Elizabeth Marvel.
The story follows a television meteorologist whose live broadcast is interrupted by a mysterious extraterrestrial force.
