GAF Confirms Chopper with 8 Aboard Goes Missing En Route to Obuasi
A Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter carrying eight people has gone missing after taking off from Accra Tuesday morning, en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
According to a statement released by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the aircraft lost radar contact shortly after departure. It had taken off at 9:12 a.m. with a total of three crew members and five passengers on board.
“All efforts are being made to establish contact,” the GAF said in the statement. “Further details will be communicated soon.”
Authorities have since launched a full-scale search and rescue operation to determine the location of the helicopter and the condition of those aboard.
The disappearance has raised concern across the country, as families, officials, and citizens await updates from military and emergency teams.
